I have always enjoy Malaysia's Independence Day for some reason. It is the only time i can show my love to my own country and its the only time i sing patriotic songs. And it is the only time students can wear something nice other our boring school uniforms.
So i started out that morning by waking my mom to bread my hair, and I tell you, she wasn't pleased about it. LOL After arriving at school, i made my way to the canteen cos i need to look for my teacher. Me lydia nayli was on duty to assist teachers on the Peragaan Baju-baju Tradisional. They came, and the three of us did what matters the most at that time, which is finishing up the posters and the badges for our class march. I did the pasting, lydia and nayli finished up the badges with the help of syazwani. We were panicking even tho we didn't show it, we put on our poker face. Thank God we finished. We were told to line up at the field for the marching and that the competition will start after the march.
Heading up to the field, man! Everyone look dashing and colourful and bedazzled! Boys with their cool baju melayu, formal shirts and ties, and killer faces which could melt any girl's heart. Girls brought their bling bling, with accessories that could actually hurt your eyes, amazing shoes and some too revealing, some not so revealing, but what is important is we all are united. We gave out to our classmates the badges and flags. Everyone liked it, well they should! Lydia nayli and lydia's lil bro, adam, burned the midnight oil finishing it up! They wore it on their amazing traditional clothes and had a photography session using Amir's camera.
Now its time for my class to march! To be honest, all of us were unprepared. We just went with the flow. Yeah, we actually did it at the last minute. We asked haziq, or is it ankin, to shout MERDEKA! 3 times and all of us followed. The posters were a success, and before heading the to Tapak Perhimpunan, amir took another picture of our amazing class. It was the last picture together, it was sad cos at that time, they were only 21 people who came. But it was one of the things that only happened to certain people. God's wish. We follow. :)
Next, me lydia and nayli headed up to the canteen. We met up with the teacher, and she told us that just stand by in case any other teachers need our help. Fortunately, a new afternoon needed my help, because she is still new all these activities we do. Even though, our rules are really pain in the ass, we still have the best activities in the Subang Jaya area. Though strict, but awesome. So i helped the teacher to give marks. I was really fair to them, i checked their clothes from top to bottom, including shoes. I checked their shoes seriously, whether if it is appropriate to wear. And some of the girls wore too much, in the end, they are only two winners. I hope to do it again next year. Sometimes i feel evil. Which is good.
After the speeches, we all had to sing the patriotic songs. I realized that there aren't many students who came, that's sad. It was supposed to be a fun day, but never mind. Though there were only a few students, but all of us sang our hearts out. We really love our country even though some of us are too chicken to admit it. Who doesn't love Malaysia? We have one of the most delicious food, which ranges from Malay to Chinese to Indian and also international. We are also untied no matter what religion or race. That what makes us special. Then its time for RECESS!
I knew there were going to be many people at the canteen, i was prepared. I brought my own food and eat it up as fast as i could and stand by the staircase. The reason is to get a place to seat during the performances. Last year, i was downstairs cos i had to take pictures, but this year I'm joining my friends on the first floor. We seated in front of our class, and the form 1's sat behind us. We didn't bother too much and we got through the day.
I have to say, this year's Merdeka celebration was not as exciting as last year's. Some of the performances really was boring and the PA system added to the boredom of the other students. Lukman performed with this form 5 chick, and i could see the jealousy of the juniors who liked that chap. So pathetic! Afterwards, the form 1's performed with their melodious voices singing hm, whatever the title of the song. They performed well, but there is so much that is needed to improve. Then the form 4's performed a sketch. I rather enjoyed it as they acted out in a scene during the time when Tunku Abdul Rahman was still fighting for independence. Well played. Then the teacher announced the winners to all the competitions that are held. I can't believe it that my class actually won 2nd place for class marching! That was really unexpected, but everything is thanks to me lydia and nayli. XD Kimberly won best dressed, expected much.
At the end of the day, its about unity. Everyone was untied no matter what colour your skin is, no matter what your religion is. Our hearts are one, and this is the only time that people are really aware of that. Hope next year celebration will be as fun as last year's.
Wait for my next update! :D
